Another German word that - among other shades of meaning - could also be
used to mean „scarecrow“ („Vogelscheuche“) was „Strohpuppe“:

°cañcāveṣā

°tṛṇakāminī



If you’re looking for 19th-century German-language equivalents, it’s a bit
like an Easter egg hunt, just right for today.
