[INDOLOGY] A question on Pāśupata names

Dear Palaniappan,

These sound more like initiatory names of the Śaiva Mantramārga, particularly if we may assume kaṇṇaṉ in this place to stand for gaṇa (see the entry for gaṇa on p. 274 of volume 2 of the Tāntrikābhidhānakośa). Pāśupata names more commonly end in rāśi or begin with either Bhā- or Bhāva-.

Could you tell us in which inscription these names occur ?

With best wishes,
Dominic

Objet : [INDOLOGY] A question on Pāśupata names

Dear Indologists,

In discussing the name Anantaśivaṉ for a priest mentioned in an inscription, T. V. Mahalingam considers him to be a Pāśupata based on the name per se. But along with Anantaśivaṉ, two other priests are also mentioned as worshipping in the same temple. They are Tattaśivaṉ and Dharmakkaṇṇaṉ. Is Mahalingam right?

Thank you in advance for any comments.

Regards,
Palaniappan
