Senior Scholar in Sanskrit

The Department of Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia
University seeks to appoint a senior professor in Sanskrit Language and
Literature.  Scholars pursuing all disciplinary approaches are invited to
apply. Applicants should be internationally acknowledged leaders in the
discipline and be able to demonstrate a distinguished career in research
and teaching. They should be prepared to teach at all levels of
undergraduate and graduate instruction and will be expected to take an
active role in the department and its involvement with other programs.

Applications will be reviewed starting January 1, 2001, with the intent of
